UnderStAnding: Emotional Statistics In 1999 I was invited by Richard Saul Wurman to be one of 13 designers participating in the creation of a book, UnderStAnding USA, that would graphically reveal a wide variety of aspects of the United States at the turn of the century. I was also invited (required) to make a presentation at the TED-X (Technology Entertainment Design 10) Conference in Monterey CA, for which I did this piece, dealing with poverty, one of the subjects for which I researched data and designed.
